The Day of Repentance and Prayer (German “Buß- und Bettag”) is a holiday of the evangelical church that goes back to times of need. In the face of emergencies and dangers, the entire population was called to conversion and prayer. The Day of Repentance and Prayer is observed on the Wednesday before Totensonntag (Sunday of the Dead), i.e. eleven days before the first Sunday in Advent.
